來自美國康乃迪克州，旅居歐洲著名爵士演奏家暨教育家，閱歷豐富與資深演奏經驗少有人能出其右，曾擔任Dizzy Gillespie大樂團世界巡迴團員，合作對象不計其數，包含Dizzy Gillespie、Art Farmer、Slide Hampton、Joe Lovano、Toots Thielemans、Philip Catherine、Kenny Werner、Billy Hart、John Abercrombie等著名爵士音樂家，音樂演出方面活躍於荷、比、德、法、美，非洲、中亞等地，領域涵蓋古典、現代樂、爵士樂等。除了薩克斯風，John的豎笛、長笛技巧亦是精綻無比。與諸多大師的合作更使John如同爵士樂的活字典，精熟各種風格，對爵士樂認知深具啟發性。
目前任教於荷蘭海牙皇家音樂院、比利時荷語布魯塞爾皇家音樂院爵士音樂系等，並固定指揮爵士大樂團於海牙爵士音樂節中合作演出，為國際爵士學校協會（IASJ）及荷蘭國立爵士教育協會（NAJE）績優資深講師、十屆台北國際爵士音樂營國際師資，此外也參與台灣爵士樂拍檔啟彬與凱雅的多張國際製作爵士樂專輯錄音及台灣巡迴，使他成為台灣樂迷最引頸企盼再度前來的大師之一。
John Ruocco
USA / Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone
With inspiring improvisation flowing through every time he picks up an instrument, John Ruocco is one of the most respected figures in jazz scene. He is currently a faculty in The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
From Connecticut, USA, John Ruocco is living in Europe as a well-known jazz performer and educator. Being a experienced musician, he has worked with Art Farmer, Slide Hampton, Joe Lovano, Billy Hart, John Abercrombie, and was a member of Dizzy Gillespie Big Band. He is active in various places such as Holland, Beligum, Germany, France, America, Africa, Mid Asia and so on. In addition to saxophone, he is also skilled at clarinet and flute. His knowledge of jazz music and his inspiring improvisation keep him one of the most respected musicians in jazz scene.
He has been invited to Taiwan in 2004, 2005, 2007 to 2014 as the reeds faculty of TISJA. Collaboration with countless jazz masters makes John a walking encyclopedia, proficient in different styles of music. He is currently a faculty in The Royal Conservatory of The Hague and Royal Conservatory of Brussels. John also directs big band performance in North Sea Jazz Festival, and has been elected the Merit Citations by IASJ and NAJE, 10-time TISJA faculty . As the member of many of Chipin and Kaiya’s albums and tours in Taiwan, John Ruocco is one of the most anticipated masters.
